In addition to our mission and vision, we encourage our staff to continue to increase their knowledge and skills. Several staff members are taking study leaves to write exams of courses they take on the weekends. Sister Emma Masanabo is currently away on her 2nd month of her Pre-Med Course, with the view of starting her 2-year Registered Nursing Degree. Today our Home Based Care team begin their 1st of three days training on how to reduce the stigma of HIV among pastors and churches called 'Positive in the Church'. This training program was provided and sponsored by various Dutch Christian organizations. Various African pastors speak about their experiences with HIV, and how they believe leaders in the church can help with the fight against AIDS. We are privileged to have Harry Lukens, a volunteer from the Netherlands, facilitate these session for us.
Last Thursday, we receive a phone call from a sister at the local government clinic about a course being held this week on How to Facilitate Support Groups. So, beginning this week, two of our Care Workers, Madira Kgwale and Constance Khanye, have been sent on this week-long course. |
